The NAHJ Nevada chapter has selected its first-ever scholarship recipient: Joaquin Lomeli, a journalism student at UNLV. Thanks in part to generous funding from the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the board has reserved enough funding to offer a $1,000 scholarship to one recipient for at least the next three years. The program, created by outgoing President Yesenia Amaro, aims to help underprivileged students pay for their journalism studies.
